I am forever grateful to the researchers at 3M who accidentally created Post-It notes in 1968. What’s better than a pack of brightly colored Post-Its and a sharpie pen? Nothing! This is my all-time favorite for capturing creative thoughts that can appear out of nowhere and quickly disappear if not written down. At least that’s how it works for me.
The power of the pen and paper cannot be underestimated for personal growth and development.
- ➔ Memory retention improves. Studies show that taking notes by hand leads to better long-term memory retention than typing on a keyboard.
- ➔ Creativity is enhanced by stimulating the imagination, allowing you to explore ideas and concepts in a way that typing on a computer simply can’t.
- ➔ Additionally, writing on paper has fewer distractions, allowing you to focus on the task at hand which contributes to reduced anxiety levels.
The power of developing an exponential mindset lies not only in what we learn with and about technology but also in the many non-tech processes and tools that contribute to our development. Who would have thought that a simple pen and paper could be such a powerhouse?
Pen and paper wait,
Silent, simple, and steadfast,
Knowledge flows in ink.
