What is a dominant mindset?
Your dominant mindset is the mental framework most influencing your decisions, actions, and habits in a given season of life. We all have many mindsets: growth, fixed, linear, abundance, scarcity, expansion – but usually one takes the lead at any given time.
For high achievers, that dominant mindset can be both the reason for your success and the reason you feel stuck.
I know this firsthand. I was in a solid career, making high six figures, and I didn’t want to disrupt that stability, even though I wasn’t enjoying the work anymore. If you’re happy where you are, that’s fine. But if you’re not, the longer you stay, the longer you’ll feel stuck.
Here are three ways a dominant mindset keeps you stuck.

Overall, you can be thriving on paper with a full calendar and big wins, but still feel uninspired and satisfied.

- Where am I coasting?
- When do I say, “That’s just not me” without trying?
- Do I keep thinking about wanting something new but never act on it?

Small steps work because they reduce resistance. They give your brain proof that change is manageable.
Over time, these steps expand what your dominant mindset sees as “safe,” creating more space for growth and opportunity.
